Blood Pressure Measurement

Measurement of blood pressure to assess for hypertension in pets is very important. Systemic hypertension can affect both dogs and cats.  Blood pressure is measured in pets in the same manner as in humans. An inflatable cuff will be placed on the pet's paw or tail, and standard blood pressure measuring instruments will check the pressure. The underlying cause of the high blood pressure will be treated first, then medications for lowering the BP can be added when needed.
